Fame wins fourth straight

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (Dec. 16, 2006) - The American Basketball Association's (ABA) Hollywood Fame (7-2) completed their first home stand of the season with a 96-94 victory over the San Diego Wildcats (5-3) at Santa Monica College on Saturday night. The game was tied going into the final minute before Jamison Brewer scored the go ahead basket with only 30 second remaining in regulation to seal the victory for the Fame. The win moved the Fame into a tie for first place in their division.

The Fame was led by guard Larry Williams with 24 points. University of Michigan product, Leland Anderson finished the game with 21 points and eight rebounds. Tyler Newton had a game-high 10 rebounds. Former NBA great Bryon Russell suited up for the Fame but did not score.

San Diego's Cardell Butler kept the game close in the final minutes and led all scorers with 45 points.

The Fame's next game is Friday, Dec. 22 against the Beijing Aoshen Olympians at 7:05 p.m. at Santa Monica College.

The Hollywood Fame is the newest team to join the ABA. It is owned by a host of celebrities and professional athletes including A.J. Discala, Nick Lachey, Geoff Stults ("7th Heaven" and "The Break-Up"), Stacy Keibler ("Dancing With the Stars"), former NBA legend John Salley, former MLB All-Star Brady Anderson, Atlanta Braves pitcher Mike Hampton, NFL quarterback Kyle Boller of the Baltimore Ravens and NASCAR's Brian Vickers, among others.
