Cape Cod Frenzy News Release

Hyannis, Massachusetts: The Cape Cod Frenzy controlled the Strong Island Sound today from the opening tap and won easily 118-106 at Barnstable High School. The Frenzy came into today's game winless in two games against the Sound, who were ranked #7 in previous the ABA Power Rankings.

The Frenzy jumped out of the gate early and established a double digit lead early in the game. Strong Island gunners Gregory Plummer and Woody Soufrant kept the Sound within striking distance at 53-45 at the half. Late in the third quarter the Frenzy extended their lead out to 17 points and looked like they might blow the game wide open. The Sound showed resiliency in getting within 109-100 with several minutes remaining but the outcome was never in danger.

Cape Cod welcomed back forward Rob Sanders from an injury. Sanders contributed a triple double: 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. Former Maryland Terrapin, Byron Mouton, made his first start for the Frenzy and scored 20 points. Three other Frenzy players scored in double figures including Sly McIntosh with 17, Richmond Pittman Jr. with 14, and Jamaal Brooks with 11.

The Sound were led by Raheim Lowry's 26 points and Chris Grant with 23 points. Gregory Plummer and Woody Soufrant contributed 15 a piece. The Frenzy are now 6-4 on the season and the Strong Island Sound drop to 8-6.

The Cape Cod Frenzy prepare for a stiff road test next week as they will play four road games in four days beginning on December 28th against the Buffalo Silverbacks at Buffalo State College. On the 29th, they will match up with the ABA Champion Rochester Razorsharks at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. And on the 30th and 31st the Frenzy will face the Vermont Frost Heaves at the "Aud" in Barre, Vermont. This road trip will severely test the Frenzy's mettle against the best in the ABA. Rochester and Vermont were both ranked in the top 5 in the previous ABA Power Rankings and Buffalo is winners of five straight.
