
Falcons Top Sharks, Snap Winless Streak

Worcester, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons (34-17-1-5) defeated the Worcester Sharks by the final score of 2-1 Sunday afternoon at the DCU Center, halting the team's three-game winless streak.
Jean-Francois Jacques scored the decisive goal at 17:01 of the second period, regaining a one-goal lead for the Falcons. For Jacques, it was his 10th goal of the season and fourth game-winning goal, matching Jonathan Marchessault for the team lead.
Jack Skille got the scoring started, beating Worcester netminder Harri Sateri with a wrist shot from just inside the left-wing circle. Skille also assisted on Jacques' game-winner, extending his current point streak to five games. The University of Wisconsin product has totaled three goals and four assists over that span.
John McCarthy scored the lone Worcester goal, tying the score at 1-1 with 7:42 remaining in the second period.
Jeremy Smith improved to 18-11-3 this season, making 28 saves on 29 shots between the posts for Springfield. Sateri stopped nine of 11 shots, falling to 13-20-1.
Neither team converted on the power play. The Falcons went 0-for-1, while the Sharks went 0-for-2.
Springfield is back in action Friday, March 7 when they visit the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:00 p.m. The team returns to the MassMutual Center Friday, March 14 to host the Albany Devils at 7:00 p.m.
