Devils Fall In Shootout

PROVIDENCE, RI -- Tim Sestito and David Wohlberg both scored, but the Albany Devils relinquished a third-period lead and lost in the shootout to the Providence Bruins Sunday at Dunkin' Donuts Center. The Bruins claimed a 2-0 victory in the penalty shot session and a 3-2 win overall.

Entering the contest, the Devils trailed the Bruins by a point in the Eastern Conference. By collecting one point, Albany moves slightly up the standings at 29-18-3-6 (67 pts.). Providence improves to 31-20-1-6 (69 pts.).

For the second straight game, the Devils carried a 2-1 lead into the third period and surrendered the advantage. Providence's David Warsofsky forced overtime with is goal at 9:19.

In the shootout, the Bruins scored in the first and third rounds and goaltender Malcolm Subban denied all four of the Devils attempts.

Keith Kinkaid finished the game with 36 saves, including 18 in the first period, in his 33rd appearance. He has helped Albany collect 10-out-of-14 points in his last seven starts.

Offensively, Sestito opened the scoring with the Devils fifth power-play goal in as many games. His 11th tally of the season came at 18:52 of the first period with assists to Reid Boucher and Joe Whitney.

After Providence's Craig Cunningham tied the game at 5:15 of the second, Wohlberg gave Albany the advantage at 15:24 of the same period. Chris McKelvie setup Wohlberg's third of the year with an offensive-zone face-off win.

Albany, which went 1-4 on the power play and 5-5 on the penalty kill, was outshot 39-31, including 2-1 in overtime.
