
Crunch Blanked by Phantoms

Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Crunch's four-game win streak came to halt tonight as they were blanked 3-0 by the Adirondack Phantoms at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Phantoms netminder Yann Danis stopped all 19 shots faced to drop the Crunch's overall record to 22-24-4-5 and road record to 12-15-2-2. Crunch netminder Anders Lindback allowed three goals on 19 shots in his second appearance for the Crunch. Neither team was able to capitalize on the power-play with the Crunch going 0-for-4 and Phantoms going 0-for-3.
After a scoreless first period the Phantoms struck twice in the middle frame to carry a 2-0 lead into the second intermission. Phantoms defenseman Bruno Gervais opened the scoring just 1:35 into the second period, assisted by Jason Akeson and Tye McGinn. McGinn picked up his second point of the night at the 12:31 mark, beating Lindback with a long blast from the point. Assists went to Brandon Manning and Akeson.
Phantoms extended their lead to 3-0 when a cross-ice pass was deflected past Lindback with 6:14 to play in the third period. Mike Matczak was credited with the goal. Akeson picked up this third point of the game by assisting. Chris VandeVelde werewas? credited with the secondary helper.
The Crunch are back in action when they visit the Rochester Americans on March 7. The Crunch will also host the Amerks at the War Memorial the following night on March 8.
CRUNCHABLES: Tonight's loss breaks a five-game point streak for the Crunch...The last time the Crunch were held to under 20 shots on goal was Feb. 14 in Norfolk...The Crunch were shut out for the fourth time this season after scoring 19 goals in their previous four games...
