Pirates Host Hartford for Cardiac Night
March 2, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Portland Pirates News Release
Lewiston, ME - The Portland Pirates will finish their home and home series with the Hartford Wolf Pack today at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Puck drop is 4 PM for the final matchup between the two teams this season. Hartford has won 4 of 5 meetings so far.
The Pirates and Wolf Pack met in Hartford last night, with the Wolf Pack taking a 4-2 win. The Pirates allowed three goals in the first, but got goals from Jordan Martinook and Andy Miele to bring the game within 1. The comeback would fall short, as Arron Asham netted an empty net goal with less than a minute to seal the win for the Wolf Pack. Mark Visentin was a bright spot for the Pirates, making 16 saves in relief of Louis Domingue, who left the game in the first with an injury.
The Pirates and Wolf Pack last played at the Colisee on Tuesday, a 4-3 win for Hartford. The Pirates' lone win was at Hartford on October 23rd, when the Pirates defeated the Wolf Pack 4-2 at the XL Center by scoring 3 power play goals.
KeyBank Key to the Game
Seeing Red: The Pirates need to embrace their aggressive side this afternoon. A strong checking game can throw the Wolf Pack off their game and give the Pirates an opportunity to take the final game of the season against Hartford.

The Pirates will wear their red road jerseys for the final time at home this year.
The Pirates will honor L/A native and U.S. Women's Sled Hockey Team member Christy Gardner during the game as part of USA Hockey's celebration of Local Hockey Heroes during Hockey Weekend Across America.
Following the game, L.L. Bean will host the annual Skate with the Team! Bring your skates and skate with your favorite Pirates players! Skate rentals are available from the Colisee pro shot in the lobby. L.L. Bean will also be giving out gift cards to lucky fans at the skate!
