Falcons Swing Deal for Defenseman

FRESNO, Calif. – Due to face the Bakersfield Condors in their 2003-04 season opener later tonight, the Fresno Falcons received defenseman Dominic Periard (pr: PAIR-ee-ard) from the Reading Royals in exchange for future considerations today.

The third-year pro from Quebec spent his rookie year with the Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League before playing the majority of last season with the now-defunct Lexington Men O'War of the ECHL. Last year he also received a four-game call-up to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

Fresno begins its initial season in the ECHL tonight at Bakersfield's Centennial Garden, the first of 11 straight on the road to begin the 2003-04 campaign before returning for their inaugural game at Save Mart Center at Fresno State on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m.

Tonight's game can be heard on KAAT 103.1 FM and via webcast on www.fresnofalcons.com on a tape delay basis beginning at approximately 10:30 p.m.
