Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that the team has signed center Josh Prudden (PREW-duhn) and right wing Brady Leisenring (LIE-sehn-ring) to contracts for the 2006-07 season.
Prudden has spent each of the last two seasons with the San Jose Sharks' AHL affiliate in Cleveland. Two seasons ago, he enjoyed a breakout season, scoring 14 goals in 73 games. The 14 goals were the most among first-year players on the Barons' roster, and he led the team with five game-winning goals. Over the course of the last two seasons, Prudden played in 149 games with the Barons, scoring 23 goals and adding 20 assists.
The 26-year-old made his professional debut with Matt Thomas and the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in 2003-04, tallying 18 goals and 34 assists for 52 points in 60 games. Prior to turning pro, he played four years of college hockey at the University of New Hampshire, notching 73 points in 131 games.
"Josh is the premier centerman that every team covets," Thomas said. "He'll be a big addition on special teams as we move to the new NHL standards this season that cuts down on the clutching and grabbing. We look forward to him being an offensive catalyst for us throughout the season."
Leisenring enters his first pro season after a standout career at the University of Vermont. In 145 games with the Catamounts, he tallied 117 points. After completing his senior season last year, he appeared in 3 games with the AHL's Cleveland Barons, notching one goal. Prior to arriving in Fresno this year, Leisenring was in AHL camp with the Worcester Sharks.
"Brady is one of the top, young, collegiate players coming into the ECHL this season," Thomas said. "We expect him to be a top-producing rookie in the league this year."
