Hartford, Conn. - The Springfield Falcons (41-20-1-5) defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack by the final score of 6-1 Friday night at the XL Center, behind two-goal performances from both Jean-Francois Jacques and Darryl Boyce.

Jacques gave Springfield a 2-0 lead at 4:23 of the second period, notching a power-play tally that would serve as the eventual game-winning goal. The Montreal, Quebec native scored his second of the game at the 10:43 mark of the third period, extending the Falcons' lead to 5-1. Jacques now has 14 goals and 28 points in 44 games this season.

Boyce opened the game's scoring with a wrist shot from just inside the right-wing circle that snuck past Hartford netminder Dov Grumet-Morris at 6:29 of the first period. The 6-foot, 200-pound centerman gave Springfield a 3-0 lead 4:43 into the middle frame, leading a two-on-one rush down the left-wing side and firing a wrist shot into the back of the net. For Boyce, the two goals gives him 13 for the season.

Carter Camper found the back of the net for the first time as a member of the Falcons, ripping a shot from the left-wing circle past Grumet-Morris to give Springfield a 4-1 lead with 10:15 to play in regulation. Camper leads the Falcons with 43 points in the 2013-14 campaign.

The Falcons tacked on another insurance goal at 11:57 of the third period, as Cody Bass finished a Marko Dano centering feed to give Springfield a 6-1 edge. For Bass, the goal was his sixth of the season.

Dano's assist was the rookie's first professional point in North America. The Bratislava, Slovakia native, a first-round selection by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2013 NHL Draft, was signed to an AHL standard player contract Saturday, March 22. Friday's contest versus the Wolf Pack was Dano's first appearance with the team and first pro game in North America.

Darroll Powe scored the lone Hartford goal, putting back a rebound past Springfield goaltender Jeremy Smith at 9:08 of the third period.

Smith made 26 saves on 27 shots to earn his 20th win of the season, matching teammate Mike McKenna's total for the most on the club. After blanking the Adirondack Phantoms Wednesday night, Smith has stopped 54 of the last 55 shots he has faced, allowing only one goal in his last two starts.

Grumet-Morris stopped 24 of 30 shots in net for Hartford, falling to 16-15-5 this season.

The Falcons went 1-for-6 on the power play, while the Wolf Pack went 0-for-4. Springfield outshot Hartford, 30-27.

The Falcons continue their current five-game road trip Saturday, March 29 at the Adirondack Phantoms. The team returns to the MassMutual Center Friday, April 11 to host the Portland Pirates at 7:00 p.m.
