Falcons Host the Monarchs Tonight

The Springfield Falcons and Manchester Monarchs meet for the sixth time this season when they drop the puck on 2011 at the MassMutual Center on Saturday night starting at 7 pm. The Falcons are 1-4 against the Monarchs this year with Manchester winning the last four straight games against Springfield. Springfield beat Manchester in the first meeting back on October 17 by a score of 3-1.

Rookie Matt Calvert leads the Falcons in scoring against the Monarchs this year with two goals and two assists for four points in five games. Marc-Andre Cliché leads Manchester in scoring against Springfield with two goals and four assists for six points in three games.

The Falcons enter tonight's contest having earned at least a point in five of their last six games going 3-1-0-2 in that span. Springfield earned a point on Friday afternoon in Glens Falls, NY losing in a shootout to the Adirondack Phantoms by a score of 3-2. Springfield rallied back from an early 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 lead in the second period on goals from David Savard and Maksim Mayorov. The Falcons have gone to the shootout in the last two straight games and for the season, they are 3-3 in the shootout.

The Monarchs won their sixth straight game on Friday beating the Providence Bruins 7-3 on home ice. Manchester's offense was led by Oscar Moller, who had a five point night collecting one goal and four assists in the win. David Kolomatis chipped in with two goals and one assist, while Marc-Andre Cliché picked up one goal and two assists. Manchester was 2-5 on the power play and 4-4 on the penalty kill in the win. The Monarchs have outscored their opponents 13-5 in their last two games and they continue to lead the Atlantic Division with a record of 23-11-1-1 good for 48 points.

FALCONS PLAYER NOTES: Defenseman David Savard has points in four of his last five games after scoring his second goal of the year on Friday in Adirondack. Savard has two goals and three assists since December 12....Maksim Mayorov scored his ninth goal of the year on Friday and he now has two goals in his last three games played....Steven Goertzen is now on a three game scoring streak having picked up one goal and two assists for three points in that span.

Trevor Frischmon is on a three game scoring streak having picked up one goal and three assists in that span. Frischmon has points in four of his last five games totaling one goal and five assists in that span.

Nick Tarnasky has points in two straight contests heading into Saturday's game having collected two assists in that span.

MANCHESTER PLAYER NOTES: David Kolomatis is on a two game scoring streak having picked up three goals and one assist in that span....Oscar Moller has three goals and five assists for eight points in his last three games played. Since November 14, Moller has collected at least a point in 12 of 14 games totaling nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points in that stretch.

John Zeiler has one goal and three assists in his last two games.

Andrei Loktionov is on a six game scoring streak collecting two goals and five assists in that span.

Viatcheslav Voynov is on a five game scoring streak totaling one goal and six assists in that stretch.

Goaltender Martin Jones has won his last five straight starts and he leads the AHL with a 1.70 goals against average. Jones is second in the league with a .944 save percentage.
