
P-Bruins Fall to Whale 6-2

Hartford, Ct - The Providence Bruins fell to the Connecticut Whale6-2 Saturday afternoon at the XL Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Lane MacDermid and Jordan Caron. Providence is back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Manchester Monarchs.
The Whale took a 1-0 lead at the 3:15 mark of the opening period. Brodie Dupont tallied his fifth goal of the season, while Kris Newbury recorded the lone assist. Connecticut made it 2-0 at the 16:08 mark. Tim Kennedynetted his seventh goal of the season, while Devin DiDiomete and Stu Bickel picked up the assists. The P-Bruins got on the board at the 17:19 mark. Andrew Bodnarchuk dug the puck out from along the boards and sent it to the point for MacDermid. He blasted the puck into the back of the net for his second goal of the season. The Whale made it 3-1 at the 18:46 mark. Evgeny Grachev scored his fifth goal of the season, with Wade Redden and Chad Kolarik grabbing the assists. Connecticut led 3-1 going into the first intermission.
Connecticut scored the lone goal in the second period. It was at the 4:05 mark, while on the power play. Jeremy Williams tallied his 19th goal of the season, with Grachev and Redden getting the assists. The Whale led 4-1 going into the second intermission.
The Whale took a 5-1 lead at the 6:15 mark of the third period. Justin Soryal netted his third goal of the season, while Ryan Garlock picked up the lone assist. Providence made it 5-2 at the 14:22 mark, while on the power play. Jeff Penner held the puck at the point and sent it down the boards to Zach Hamill. He shot the puck towards the net and Caron was there to pick it up and score his first goal of the season. Connecticut finished off the scoring at the 16:48 mark, while on the power play. Todd White scored his second goal of the season, with Williams and Grachev getting the assists. The Whale went onto the 6-2 victory.
Matt Dalton stopped 33 of 39 shots for the P-Bruins, while Cameron Talbot made 24 saves for the Whale. The P-Bruins were 1-for-7 on the power play and 4-for-7 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins wrap up their five game road trip Sunday at the Arena at Harbor Yard at 3:00 p.m. against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Providence is back at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday for Kid's Hat Night at 7:05 p.m.against the Monarchs.
