Extra Innings Goes to the Braves 6-5

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves got back into the win column Monday night at State Mutual Stadium before 1,675 fans in a thrilling walk off win over the Augusta GreenJackets 6-5.

Keith Weisenberg struggled in the first inning and three Augusta base runners crossed the plate highlighted by a two run single by Ryan Kirby and Trevor Adam's single to score the third run of the frame. Rome made it a 3-1 contest in the third on Riley Delgado's RBI single. Jefry Ramos (10) homered in the fourth allowing the Braves to close to within one run. In the sixth, Heliot Ramos extended the Augusta lead 5-2 on a two run base hit. Rome kept chipping away and made it a 5-4 game in the seventh on a wild pitch to score a run and an RBI double by Drew Waters. Jean Carlos Encarnacion tied the game in the eighth with a two out runs scoring single for the 5-5 score. In the bottom of the tenth, with Greyson Jenista at second as the automatic runner, William Contreras struck out and Ramos was intentionally walked to put Venter at the plate with one out. On a 1-2 pitch, Venter lined a shot down the left field line allowing Jenista to cruise across the plate for the walk off win.

Jasseel De La Cruz (3-4) gets the win in relief while Olbis Parra (2-5) is the loser.
