Round Rock Express News Release

(NEW ORLEANS, LA) - Round Rock Express hitters came alive in New Orleans on Monday night, supporting a pitching staff that used relievers the whole way. The E-Train pounded out an 8-6 win over the Zephyrs to open an eight game road trip.

Lefty Mike Gallo started the game and gave up four runs in the first, but his teammates rallied in the second as C Humberto Qunitero started the comeback with a solo homerun with one out in the second.

SS Tommy Whiteman launched a two run, opposite-field homer in the fourth to make it 4-3 New Orleans. The Zephyrs 3B Brendan Harris took it to 5-3 New Orleans with his solo shot that led of the fourth, but Whiteman wasn't done. His three run homer gave Round Rock a 6-5 lead in the middle innings.

New Orleans tied it at six in the sixth, and it stayed that way until 3B Mike Coolbaugh drilled a Travis Hughes pitch into the left center field gap scoring two in the top of the 9th. Closer Mike Burns pitched two perfect innings for the 8-6 victory.

Express play at 11:35 AM tomorrow (May 3) in the second game of the four game series.
