Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

GREEN BAY, WI - The Green Bay Bullfrogs topped the Battle Creek Bombers 5-4 in 11 innings Friday night at Joannes Stadium.

The Bombers fell behind early in the ballgame, however did a nice job of battling back. The first four batters reached base in the top of the 7th inning off of Bullfrog pitcher Mac Acker, and the Bombers were able to score 3 runs to tie the game at 4. Leading the way offensively for the Bombers were Sikes Orvis (Ole Miss) and AJ Spanel (Doane College). Both players had 3 hits and 1 RBI in the game.

The bullpen did an excellent job of keeping Battle Creek in the game. Pat Borlik (Western Michigan), Brian Heldman (Arkansas), Alex Tukey (Minnesota), and Caleb Vincent (Grand Valley State) combined to give up just 2 runs in nearly 7 innings after relieving Brian Thene (Miami: OH). Unfortunately it was not enough as Green Bay got a walk-off single from Duncan McAlpine in the 11th to give the Bullfrogs a 5-4 victory. Battle Creek will look to get back in the win column tomorrow night at 8:05 ET.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the prestigious Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America.
