Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK - For the second straight season, sleet has thrown a curveball at Round Rock's season opener.

Rain, sleet and temperatures hovering above freezing in Des Moines, Iowa forced the cancellation of the Express' season-opener against Iowa on Thursday. The two teams will try to reconvene at Principal Park for a 7:05 p.m. start on Friday.

Game 1 will be made up at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday before the evening's regularly scheduled game at 7:05 p.m.

The two teams met in Round Rock for the season-opener last year, splitting two games before sleet moved into the area and forced the postponement of Game 3 on April 7. The postponement snapped a streak of 524 consecutive home games without a cancellation at The Dell Diamond. Temperatures that day sank into the low-30s and winds whipped up to 28-mph.
