Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - With the 2008 season getting underway tonight, the Portland Beavers today unveiled their complete 2008 promotions schedule. Once again, fans can look forward to a variety of great giveaway nights, an innovative group of theme nights and a host of familiar favorites sure to make each of the team's 72 home games an event unto itself.

Headlining the promotions lineup this season is "Leave it to Beaver" Night presented by Comcast, complete with a special appearance from Jerry Mathers, the star of the classic sitcom series of the 1950s and 1960s who played Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver. Celebrating the connection between the Triple-A club and the popular show, "Leave it to Beaver" Night will take place on Saturday, Aug. 2, with the first 1,903 fans receiving a Jerry Mathers "Leave it to Beaver" bobblehead.

The 2008 promo schedule also includes the addition of the team's new "Year of the Uniform" series, inviting kids 12 and under to attend six different games during the season to collect a set of great, replica uniform items, such as Beavers Wristbands on April 6, replica jerseys on May 31 and June 1, batting gloves on June 29, caps on July 20 and backpacks to store all the goodies on Aug. 24.

The team will feature four Art & Science of Baseball School Days (presented by First Tech Credit Union) this season. Living up to their billing as the "ultimate fieldtrip," these special games offer thousands of area students a great combination of fun and learning. First pitch for each of the four Art & Science of Baseball School Days is 11:05 a.m. (gates open at 9 a.m.).

A hit upon its introduction in 2007, the Beavers will once again feature Comcast Family Feast Fridays (presented by Zenner's). During each Friday home game, the Beavers will offer a variety of discounted food and beverage items, including $1 hot dogs, Dasani water and ice cream desserts.

Other great promotions on tap during the 2008 campaign:

The Rockets Red Glare ...

Nothing goes better with the Fourth of July than baseball and fireworks, and the Beavers are proud to present both once again in 2008. Don't miss the team's annual Fourth of July Celebration presented by PGE. Post-game fireworks and an appearance by the Zooperstars will help make this Independence Day the best yet at PGE Park.

Theme Nights

Regardless of the day, there is always fun to be had at PGE. The recurring theme nights on tap for 2008 include: Miller Lite Thursdays (presented by Jammin' 95.5), Comcast Family Feast Fridays (presented by Zenner's and KEX 1190 AM), Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturdays (presented by Charlie 97.1 fm) and American Family Insurance Kids Sundays (presented by Soft Rock K103 and K-Hits 106.7).

Miller Lite Thursdays

PGE Park is the place to be on Thursdays, and this season is no different. Check the Beavers promotional schedule for a host of great themes sure to make the atmosphere even more festive during each Miller Lite Thursday.

Bark in the Park

The Beavers again will feature two Bark in the Park promotions this season. Presented by Health Net Insurance, this popular promotion allows fans to bring their canines to the game on July 5 and again Aug. 13.

Go Green with the Beavers

The Beavers are teaming with Esurance to give out reusable grocery bags to the first 1,000 fans in attendance each of the four nights during the Beavers' home series against the Salt Lake Bees, April 19-22.

For a Good Cause

The Beavers once again are teaming with Health Net Insurance and Susan G. Komen for the Cure for Strike Out Breast Cancer Day on Aug. 3. The Beavers will wear limited-edition pink jerseys that will be awarded to lucky fans through a special silent auction during the game. The Beavers and Health Net have raised more than $40,000 over the past three years through this philanthropic event. Proceeds raised will benefit breast cancer research. The first 1,903 fans in attendance at the game will receive a commemorative pink Beavers t-shirt. As part of Supercuts Back-2-School Day on Aug. 24, the Beavers are encouraging fans to bring new school items to donate as part of their efforts to support Schoolhouse Supplies.

Business in the Front, Party in the Back ... Mullet Night

The promotional schedule wouldn't be complete without the Beavers' annual "Mullet Night," a lighthearted tribute to the famed hairdo. Mullet Night is Thursday, July 31.
