
Scot Shields To Rehab With Bees

SALT LAKE CITY - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced that reliever Scot Shields will begin a rehab assignment with the Salt Lake Bees tonight in the team's season opener in Las Vegas. He will be evaluated at that time for a possible return to the Angels.
Shields was placed on the 15-day disabled list on March 30 with a right forearm strain. The former Salt Lake Stinger and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native pitched for Salt Lake in 2001 and 2002, owning an 8-13 record and 4.48 ERA in 49 games. In 2007, Shields was 4-5 with a 3.86 ERA in 71 games for the Angels.
The Salt Lake Bees begin the 2008 PCL season on the road against the Las Vegas 51s tonight at 7:05 p.m. (MT). The Bees will play their home opener at Franklin Covey Field on April 11 at 6:35 p.m. (MT) against the Portland Beavers.
