Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express (49-53) opened a seven-game homestand with a 7-2 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers (51-51) on Tuesday night at Dell Diamond. The E-Train have now put together four separate winning streaks of three or more games this season.

Round Rock starter LHP Michael Roth (6-5, 4.00) was rock-solid over 6.0 frames on the mound, holding the Tacoma offense to just two runs on seven hits while picking up three strikeouts to earn the win. Rainiers starter RHP Christian Bergman (6-8, 5.38) took home the loss after he was tagged for seven runs on 11 hits in just 3.0 innings.

Express CF Drew Robinson wasted no time putting his team on the board in the bottom of the first, launching a solo shot onto the berm in right for his eighth homer of the season. Following a double by LF Franklin Rollin and a single by SS Cliff Pennington, 3B Andy Ibanez smashed a line drive to center for an RBI single. Round Rock would score two more runs to finish off the opening frame after 2B Christian Lopes ripped an RBI single of his own and 1B Hanser Alberto brought another run home when he grounded into a double play.

The E-Train kept the pedal to the metal in the next frame, collecting two more runs to extend the gap to 6-0. C Tony Sanchez singled to left with one out and eventually scored on a single by Rollin, his first RBI knock at the Triple-A level. Before the third out was made, Pennington drove Robinson in on a sacrifice fly to center.

In Bergman's third and final inning on the hill, Round Rock pushed their lead to 7-0. Alberto got things started when he punched his 15th double of the season down the line in left. After RF Hunter Cole recorded the 10th Express hit of the evening to put runners on the corners, DH Nick Torres bounced into a fielder's choice that allowed Alberto to score.

Tacoma's bats would spark for two runs in the sixth, but Roth utilized a strikeout and a pop out to navigate his way out of a bases-loaded jam. Relievers RHP Tayler Scott and RHP Deolis Guerra took over from there, locking down the win by combining for 3.0 shutout frames.

The E-Train will look to make it four wins in a row on Wednesday night when they welcome the Rainiers back to Dell Diamond for the second round of the three-game series. Express RHP Adrian Sampson (5-3, 4.86) is scheduled to start against rehabbing Seattle Mariners RHP Erasmo Ramirez (0-1, 1.54). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
