Tacoma Drops Opener In Round Rock, 7-2

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Tacoma Rainiers (51-51) fell back to the .500 mark with a 7-2 series opening loss to the Round Rock Express (49-53) on Tuesday night at Dell Diamond.

Tacoma's offense collected 10 hits and drew three walks, but only managed two runs. First baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (2x4, RBI) and center fielder Ian Miller (2x3, RBI, BB) both collected multiple hits and drove in runs. Left fielder John Andreoli (2x5, 2B) also contributed multiple hits.

Rainiers right-hander Christian Bergman got the start for Tacoma and went just three innings - he allowed seven runs on 11 hits (one home run) with no walks or strikeouts. Bergman (6-8) took his eighth loss of the season.

Tacoma's bullpen held the Round Rock offense off the scoreboard for the remainder of the night. Tucker Healy (2.2 IP), Dario Alvarez (0.1 IP), Mike Morin (1.0 IP), and Darin Gillies (1.0 IP) all contributed to the effort. The group allowed no hits, issued just one walk, and struck out two.

Rainiers right-hander Erasmo Ramirez (0-1, 1.54) will get the start opposite Express righty Adrian Sampson (5-3, 4.86) as the series continues on Wednesday night at 5:05 p.m. PT.
