
Reno Aces Game Notes at New Orleans

Today's Game: Following a league-wide off-day, the Aces are in The Big Easy for a short three-game series against the New Orleans Baby Cakes. Reno enters with a record of 50-51 and will send Jake Buchanan to the mound in game one. As a team, Reno is 22-27 on the road this season. Buchanan is riding a three-game winning streak and has not lost since 6/18 vs. Omaha.
Last Game: In Sunday's matinee finale, the Aces fell to in-state rival Las Vegas by a score of 15-6. Reno was led offensively by Christian Walker who went 2-for-4 with a home run, double, and two RBI. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Ildemaro Vargas extend his current hit streak to 22 games on a double to the left field wall. Starting pitcher Anthony Vasquez went 5.0 innings, striking out four Las Vegas batters, and allowed seven hits. The loss drops the Aces to one game under .500 at a record of 50-51.
Streaking: Ildemaro Vargas went 1-for-4 Sunday night to continue his season-best 22-game hit streak. Vargas is 39-for-98 (.398) since June 24th with 8 doubles, 16 runs scored and 11 RBI. There have only been five players in Aces history with streaks of 20+ games. Tony Abreu (24, 2011), Jake Elmore (31, 2012) Chris Owings (23, 2013), Ketel Marte (22, 2017), Ildemaro Vargas (22, 2018). In 2017, Ketel Marte went 37-for-98, .378, with nine 2B, three 3B, one HR and 16 RBI from April 29 through May 22.
Leading Brito: Socrates Brito has continued his hot season into the summer. Brito leads the team in batting with a .338 average on 103 hits - both are good for top-five in the Pacific Coast League. His 67 runs scored are just two behind former Aces outfielder Zach Borenstein for best in the PCL and his 17 home runs are a personal season-best.
On the Move: The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated LHP T.J. McFarland from the 10-day disabled list (strained left neck). Following Saturday's game, the D-backs optioned RHP Silvino Bracho to Triple-A Reno. Bracho, 26, is 2-0 with a 2.04 ERA (4 ER in 17.2 IP), .150 opponent average and 23 strikeouts in 18 games over 7 stints with Arizona this season. With Reno, Bracho is 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA in 22.2 IP.
Recker's 150: Anthony Recker hit career home run number 150 on Sunday afternoon at Greater Nevada Field. Recker's two-run blast was his 12th of the season for the Aces. In 206 Major League Games, Recker's has recorded 18 home runs compared to 132 at the Minor League levels. His 12 homers with the Aces are the most he's had in a single-season since 2011 with Sacramento when he hit a career-high 16.
Walker Blast's: Christian Walker hit his 47th home run in an Aces jersey on Sunday. In his first two seasons, Walker sits in fourth all-time in Aces history - 1. Brandon Allen - 55 1. Mike Jacobs - 55, 3. Peter O'Brien - 50, 4. Christian Walker - 47. Additionally, the first baseman has hit three homers in his time with Arizona over the past two seasons to give him 50 total blasts since signing with the D-backs in 2017. 39 % of his career home runs have come over the last two seasons.
