Round Rock Express News Release

Less than a week after playing a 15 inning marathon against the Arkansas Travelers, the Round Rock Express found themselves in a similar situation. Unfortunately, the result was the same.

Arkansas scored two runs in the bottom of the 12th inning to defeat Round Rock, 8-7, in front of 2,517 at Ray Winder Field.

It was the second extra inning game between the teams in six days. Arkansas won a 15 inning affair, 3-2, on June 6.

A John Tamargo single to drive in his sixth run of the game gave the Express a one run lead in the top of the inning. However, an infield single by Junior Zamora off of losing pitcher Ruddy Lugo (0-9) tied the game and a Ryan Budde single past a drawn in infield won it.

For Round Rock, Tamargo had a huge night. Two days after Jon Topolski drove in seven, Tamargo nearly matched his feat with a three-run home run, an RBI double and an eighth inning bases loaded walk that tied the game at 6-6.

Dustin Griffith (1-0) earned his first Texas League win for the Travelers.

The third game of the four game series is Friday at 7:45 p.m.
