Express Erase Seven-Run Deficit to Win, 10-9, in 10 Frames

Round Rock, TX - The Isotopes built a 7-0 lead but Round Rock scored five in the seventh and four in the ninth to tie the game and then went on to win, 10-9, on a Nick Solak RBI single in the tenth Saturday night at Dell Diamond

With the loss, Albuquerque has dropped the series.

Offensively, the Isotopes tallied 10 hits, four homers and two doubles. D.J. Peterson hit two dingers, had three hits and drove in three. Wynton Bernard and Sam Hilliard also homered. Jonathan Morales drove in two runs with two hits.

The Isotopes plated the game's first runs in the fifth frame when Peterson launched his ninth homer, a two-run shot, while another run came around on a fielding error.

In the sixth, Albuquerque doubled their lead with two homers. Peterson connected on a solo clout and then Bernard smacked a two-run shot, giving the Isotopes a 6-0 lead.

Albuquerque scored for a third-straight inning when Hilliard went deep. They led, 7-0.

The Express made it a game in the seventh when they plated five runs, trimming the Isotopes lead to 7-5.

Albuquerque's lead grew to 9-5 in the ninth on a Morales two-run single. However, Round Rock swatted two, two-run homers in the home half of the ninth to tie it at 9-9.

In extra innings, the Isotopes failed to score a run. The Express, though, loaded the bases and won on an RBI single by Solak.

Ryan Feltner did not factor into the decision after throwing 3.2 innings and allowing no runs on four hits and three walks with three punchouts.

Topes Scope: - The seven-run blown led is the second largest this season (8, June 26 at Las Vegas).

-The Isotopes have now lost seven series on the year, including six on the road.

-Albuquerque fell to 2-3 in extra inning contests this year and 1-2 on the road.

-The Isotopes have hit 128 homers on the year-the most in all of MiLB.

-Albuquerque surrendered five runs in the seventh frame, the 12th time this year they've allowed five in one inning.

-The Isotopes swiped four bases on the night, the second-most in a game this season (5, May 27 at Round Rock).

-Albuquerque used eight pitchers on the night, tying the season-high set twice.

-Montes stole two bases, tying the season-high set by Bernard twice this year. Montes is 5-for-5 this year.

-Feltner tossed 3.2 innings, tied for his second-shortest outing of the year between both Albuquerque and Colorado.

-Peterson has hit homers in back-to-back games for the first time this season. He has not homered in two-straight games in affiliated ball since July 16-17, 2016, with Triple-A Tacoma vs. Colorado Springs. Also tallied his third three-RBI effort and 12th multi-hit game.

-Peterson hit two homers in a game in affiliated ball for the first time since July 16-17, 2018, with Triple-A Louisville vs. Buffalo. It is the 11th time an Isotope player has gone deep twice in a contest this year.

-Bernard has reached base at least twice in six-straight games. He also homered in back-to-back games for the third time this year.

-Morales recorded his 14th multi-hit effort and sixth multi-RBI game of the year.

-Hilliard registered two extra-base hits in a game for the Isotopes for the first time this year. Also tallied his first homer since June 26 at Las Vegas, 38 at-bats.

-The bullpen's scoreless streak ended at 9.2 innings. During the stretch, they allowed five hits with 14 punchouts.

-Julian Fernandez tossed a scoreless inning while fanning three-tying a season-high set on April 20 at Round Rock. He has allowed just two hits and one run over his last 12 games and 12.2 innings.

On Deck: The Isotopes and Express will face off for the series finale Sunday night at 5:05 pm at Dell Diamond. Karl Kauffmann is expected to start for Albuquerque and make his Triple-A debut. He will be opposed by Cole Winn.
