Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees hit four home runs, three triples, and scored 12 total runs in a 12-5 blowout win over the Sacramento River Cats Sunday afternoon. They set or tied season-highs in extra-base hits (9), home runs (4), and triples (3) in the win.

Magneuris Sierra went 3-for-5 and was a double short of the cycle with a season-high four RBI. Jack Mayfield went 3-for-5 as well with a home run and two RBI. Jo Adell went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double and now has four extra-base hits in his last three games.

The Bees bullpen combination of Kyle Barraclough, Oliver Ortega, Brian Moran, and Jonathan Aro threw 5.2 innings of scoreless relief, giving up just three hits and one walk during that span. They all recorded at least one strikeout as well, punching out eight total batters between them.

Salt Lake got on the board first, as Jose Rojas hit his 11th home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning.

Sacramento scored all of their runs in the third inning as starter Jhonathan Diaz ran into some trouble after recording his first six outs via the strikeout. They put up five runs on six hits and took a 5-1 lead.

Dillon Thomas hit an RBI-triple in the bottom of the third inning and Mayfield hit his solo home run in the bottom of the fourth as Salt Lake began to chip away at the lead. They would take the lead in the fifth inning on a Thomas RBI-double and a Sierra two-RBI triple.

The Bees really broke things open with a five-run seventh inning, highlighted by a Matt Thaiss triple and Sierra's home run.

Adell made it 12-5 in the eighth and Aro closed it out in the ninth to secure the win.

Salt Lake will head to Las Vegas this week for a six-game series against the first-place Aviators starting on Tuesday.
