Sioux City Explorers News Release

Lincoln, NE.....Two, two-run home runs lifted Lincoln to a 6-1 win over the Sioux City Explorers Tuesday as the X's lost their sixth straight game.

Phil Hawke hit a two-run home run in the first inning off losing hurler Ty Marotz and former Explorer Brandon Jones hit a two-run shot off relief pitcher Ryan Harris in the four-run sixth inning.

The Explorers could manage only five hits off three Lincoln pitchers while the X's struck out 11 times. The only Sioux City run came in the fifth inning on a throwing error by Lincoln catcher Shawn McGill that allowed Nick McCoola to score. That cut the Lincoln lead to 2-1, but the four-run sixth inning sealed the victory for the Saltdogs.

With the loss, the Explorers are now in third place in the American Association North, two and a half games behind Lincoln.

The third game of the four-game series for the Explorers at Lincoln will be Wednesday at 7:05.
