
Mohr, Wingnuts Slam Pelicans 8-3

Wichita, KS- The Wingnuts used the long ball to pound the Pensacola Pelicans 8-3 on Tuesday night at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
After going down 1-2-3 in the first three innings, the Wingnuts bats came alive in the fourth inning, capped off by a Dustan Mohr grand slam which put Wichita up 4-2. After Pensacola cut the lead to 4-3, the Wingnuts added a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Greg Porter. Kelly Hunt hit his league-leading 14th home run in the sixth and Mohr added his second home run of the game in the seventh to put Wichita up 8-3.
Wingnuts starter Will Savage settled down after giving up a couple of early runs to throw seven strong innings and earn his fifth win of the season. Mohr led the 'Nuts with five RBI, while Porter - the league's top hitter - finished 2-5. Marcos Rodriguez led the Pelicans, going 3-4 with three RBI and a stolen base. The loss snapped Pensacola's eight-game winning streak.
The Wingnuts will host the Pelicans in the series finale on Wednesday with a special Noon start time. Derek Blacksher will take the mound for Wichita. For tickets call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
