Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

OREM, UT -- Idaho Falls made the Pioneer League's best team look helpless throughout the night. Chukars bats exploded in a 17-6 romping over Orem to conclude the two game series at Brent Brown Ballpark.

The Chukars (20-17) did a little bit of everything at the plate in the win. Idaho Falls put up a season high in runs, without one player tallying more than two hits. Seven players recorded multiple hits as the Greybirds pounded the Owlz (24-13). Robert Pehl got the scoring started in the first inning off of Keynan Middleton (2-4). The Washington product singled with the based loaded to put Idaho Falls up 2-0.

Orem took the lead after three innings, but Idaho Falls reclaimed it in the fourth. With two outs, Brandon Thomasson lifted his first professional home run to center field. The two run shot gave the Chukars a 4-3 lead they wouldn't relinquish.

The first of two five run innings came in the fifth. After Michael Hill and Brawlun Gomez singled in runs, Kyle Pollock brought them both home with a moonshot home run to left field. The Clinton, Ohio native's second home run of the season broke the game open, with a 9-3 score.

The Greybirds added three more in the sixth inning, then pounded five more runs in the eighth frame. A Michael Hill triple, and three Chukars doubled were featured in the five run eighth inning. As a team, the Chukars were 10-22 with runners in scoring position. After eight innings, Idaho Falls 17-3, leading to Orem sending outfielder Quentin Davis to the mound to pitch the ninth. Ironically, he set down the Chukars in order for just the second time in the game.

Idaho Falls continues the road trip tomorrow, beginning a two game series against Ogden. Jake Newberry is scheduled to pitch for the Chukars.
