Great Falls Voyagers News Release

BILLINGS, Mont. - The Great Falls Voyagers started the second half of the Pioneer League season by collecting their league-leading fourth shutout of the season, blanking the Billings Mustangs 6-0 Saturday night at Dehler Park.

One start after turning in his worst outing of the year, Voyager starter Dane Stone (4-0) bounced back in a big way. The righty turned in seven scoreless frames for Great Falls (1-0, 24-15), scattering three hits. The only trouble spot for Stone was in the sixth when Billings (0-1, 17-22) had one batter reach on an error and another reach via a walk, but Stone was able to wriggle out of the jam unscathed.

On the other side, Luke Moran (1-4) was pitching well too for the Mustangs, as he did not surrender a run until the fifth. In that frame, he was taken deep by Zach Fish, whose opposite field shot was his first professional home run.

Great Falls went back to the long ball in the seventh to add another. Dillon Haupt homered for the second straight day to double the Voyager lead, before a John Ziznewski single later in the frame made it 3-0.

The Voyagers final three runs of the game came with two outs in the ninth. After a Billings error left the door open, Great Falls took advantage as Zach Fisher plated two with a single, and Haupt doubled another home.

Behind Stone, Great Falls picked up an inning of perfect relief each from Jace Fry and Devon Davis to lock down the Voyagers league-leading fourth shutout of 2014 and tie the staff's season low with just three hits allowed.

The Voyagers and Mustangs will finish up this three-game series Sunday afternoon at Dehler Park. Great Falls will send lefty Brian Clark (2-1 2.70) to the mound, while Billings will counter with right-hander Tejay Antone (0-2, 7.84). First pitch is set for 2:05 and coverage will begin at 1:50 on 1400 AM KXGF and gfvoyagers.com.
