The Everett Silvertips scored two goals in both the second and third period after starting the game with a single in the first and held on for a 5-2 win over the Spokane Chiefs on Tuesday night in the Spokane Arena. Everett's win breaks a tie for third place in the U.S. Division between the two in their first of 10 meetings on the season.
The Silvertips scored the game's first goal on a two-man advantage when Shane Harper stepped to the top of the left circle and scored on a snap shot at 12:50. Byron Froese and Harper scored in the second at 14:37 and 18:06. Harper's second came on a break away to make it 3-0 going into the third period.
Spokane pulled within two on Mitch Wahl's sixth goal of the year 2:04 into the third. His snap shot was assisted by Kyle Beach and Stefan Ulmer.
Tyler Maxwell helped Everett pull away with two goals in the final frame with goals at 4:47 and 15:28, the last one coming on the power play.
Beach recorded his 15th goal in 16 games at 19:01 to finish the scoring.
Everett was 2-6 on the power play with the Chiefs finishing 1-6.
Spokane was outshot for just the third time this year, 36-27.
The Chiefs are back on the ice this weekend with games on Saturday versus Kamloops and Sunday against Kelowna.
