Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB. -- The Brandon Wheat Kings made it back to back wins at Westman Place Wednesday afternoon with a 7-3 victory over the visiting Prince George Cougars.
Toni Rajala and Matt Calvert had two goals and an assist each as the Wheat Kings improved to 12-8-0-2 on the season.
Former Manitoba Junior Hockey League Rookie of the Year Jordan DePape, who returned to the Wheat Kings' lineup after missing a month with a broken foot, scored his second goal of the season while Colby Robak and Paul Ciarelli rounded out the scoring.
With the win, Brandon moved into a tie for third place in the Western Hockey League's Eastern Conference.
Wednesday's game, played before close to 4,900 fans, marked the return of former Wheat Kings' coach Dean Clark to Brandon. Clark was signed by the Cougars to a 5-year contract this past summer after spending several seasons in Kamloops.
By scoring seven times, each and every fan in attendance received a complimentary Wheat Kings' Breakfast at either Smittys location in Brandon.
Brandon's next action is Friday night when they host the front running Saskatoon Blades. Puck drop is at 7:30.
