Evansville Five Run Rally Sparks 7-3 Win

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - b0 The Evansville Otters lost an early lead and rallied back for a 7-3 win over the Joliet Slammers on Tuesday night.

There was actually no scoring in the first four and a half innings of the game. Evansville starter Wynn Pelzer was in the midst of a no-hit bid and the Otters would support him offensively with a sacrifice fly in the fifth and sixth innings.

Pelzer would eventually lose his no-hitter in the seventh and Joliet would take the lead in the eighth.

Trailing 3-2, Evansville utilized a double from outfielder DeAngelo Mack to tie the game, a blooping RBI infield single from pinch hitter Brett Chamberlain for the lead, and a three-run home run from outfielder Runey Davis to pull away for the win.

Evansville improves to 30-37 with the win, tying their season-high winning streak of three. Joliet drops to 27-40 with the loss.

The Otters will look to win their fourth straight game on Wednesday night. It is Special Olympics of Vanderburgh County night at the ballpark with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. CDT and hot dogs for the price of $1.

Left-hander Matt Zielinski (5-5, 4.32 ERA) will be on the mound for Evansville. He will be opposed by right-hander Matt Sommo (0-3, 4.08 ERA).
