Alaska Aces rookie forward, Ethan Cox has called up to the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League, Aces Head Coach Brent Thompson announced on Wednesday. It is Cox's second call up to the AHL this season after an earlier stint with the Portland Pirates. Cox will join Peoria immediately in preparation for three straight games beginning on Thursday night. On Wednesday night the Aces will face the Ontario Reign at 6:00pm AKST to open a five-game road trip. The game can be heard in the Anchorage area on NewsTalk 750AM KFQD. Cox, 23, is in his first pro season. He has 12 points (6g, 6a), 23 penalty minutes, and is a +4 through 31 games for Alaska this year. He also had one assist in two games with the Pirates in late November. Cox has excelled in his first professional campaign as a two-way forward, and has been a premier penalty killer and face-off man for the Aces. The Richmond, British Columbia native was a dependable player for the last four seasons for Colgate University, and was named the squad's best defensive player in both his junior and senior year.

The Aces begin a five-game road trip on Wednesday with their final meeting of the year with the Ontario Reign. The game can be heard back in Anchorage on NewsTalk 750AM KFQD, beginning at 5:45pm AKST. The aces will then continue their busy week when they visit Bakersfield on Friday, and Las Vegas on Saturday and Sunday. They wrap up their road swing with a third meeting in Las Vegas on Tuesday night, completing a stretch of five games in seven nights. The Aces will return home to host the Victoria Salmon Kings on Friday and Saturday, January 21st and 22nd.
