Wheeling Nailers News Release
TRENTON, NJ ¬" Ben Street and Mikael Bedard each scored twice, to lead the Wheeling Nailers to an impressive 4-1 victory over the Trenton Devils at the Sun National Ban Center Wednesday Night. The Nailers continue to hold their lead in the north division, while reaching the 40-point mark in the standings.
The Nailers came out flying in the first, as a quick pass from Ben Street, was bumped across the slot, to a wide open Mikael Bedard who tapped the puck past Devil goaltender Shane Connelly, giving Wheeling a 1-0 lead. Ben Street extended the lead, on a nice move in front, squeezing by two defenders and firing a shot low past Connelly, giving Wheeling the 2-0 lead after the first period.
Trenton pulled within one at 2:35, as Trevor Kell fired a wrist shot which skipped off the post and behind Nailers netminder Peter Delmas. Just 29 seconds later Ben Street sprinted after the loose puck, and took off on a breakway. Street deked to the forehand and wristed a shot blocker side past Connelly, to give Wheeling a 3-1 lead. Mikael Bedard matched Street's two goal performance scoring his fifth of the season at 14:44 of the second to give the Nailers a 4-1 lead at the end of two.
In the third, the Nailers defense was solid in the middle, while Delmas made all the stops in the period, to seal the 4-1 road victory. Delmas earns his first ECHL victory in goal stopping 32 of 33 shots.
