Duffy Assigned from AHL Bridgeport

Defenseman Matt Duffy has been assigned to the Gladiators from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

Duffy joins the Gladiators after he appeared in 24 games with the Kalamazoo Wings this season. He has recorded four points off of two goals and two assist with the Wings. He has not appeared in a game this season in the AHL with Bridgeport.

The Windham, Maine native, split last season between the Florida Everblades and the AHL Rochester Americans. Duffy earned 14 points (five goals, 14 assists) in 52 games last season with Florida. He also had three assist in seven 2010 Kelly Cup Playoff games. In 11 games with AHL Rochester last year, Duffy recorded one goal and five points.

After finishing his senior season at the University of Maine in 2009, Duffy appeared in two games with Florida but did not register a point. Duffy had an assist in three 2009 Kelly Cup Playoff games. He skated in nine AHL games with Rochester where he collected two goals and four assists.

Duffy played four seasons at the University of Maine from 2005 to 2009 and earned 43 points (21 goals, 22 assists) in 135 career collegiate games with the Black Bears.

Duffy was selected by Florida Panthers in the 4th round with the 104th overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
