(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have signed import wide receiver Montez Billings, import defensive back Michael Ricks, non-import linebacker Peter Thiel, and non-import fullback Reed Anderson the club announced today.
Billings was signed in 2009 as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints. After being released he spent time on the Buffalo Bills practice roster. He played his college football at Auburn where he appeared in 34 games registering 55 catches for 645 yards and one TD.
Ricks attended the Baltimore Ravens 2011 training camp after signing as an undrafted free agent. He was a standout at Stillman College where he posted 108 tackles, seven interceptions, and 13 pass break ups in 20 games over two seasons.
In 2011, Thiel signed as a free agent with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and attended their rookie camp. In 2010 he tallied 42 tackles (20 solo) and one sack in six games with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. He also took part in the East West Bowl and was named a Canada West All-Star.
Anderson was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Montreal Alouettes and attended their 2011 training camp. He played his college football for St. Mary's before transferring to Acadia; he played in 7 games recording 40 yards rushing on 9 carries for the Axemen.
