
Eskimos welcome Ottawa to kick-off 2005 season

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos will attempt to kick-off the 2005 CFL regular season with some capital punishment as the Ottawa Renegades visit Edmonton on Friday, June 24th. The rest of the fan-friendly 2005 Eskimo schedule features five Friday night contests and four Saturday games.
The Calgary Stampeders, led by Tom Higgins make one regular season trip to Edmonton on Friday, September 9th in the Labour Day rematch. âRider fans will "paint the town green" on Saturday, October 15th when Saskatchewan makes its only visit to Edmonton. Winnipeg plays once in Edmonton as well â Friday, July 15th. The reigning West Division champs, BC Lions, travel to Edmonton twice - Saturday, September 24th and Friday October 28th in the final regular season home game. The Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts make their way to Edmonton on Saturday August 20 with eastern rivals Montreal coming to town on Friday, August 26th. The resurgent Hamilton Tiger-Cats will show their stripes on Saturday, July 30th.
"We are pleased with the 2005 schedule and I believe our fans will be too. It's a great mix of Friday nights and Saturday games and our fans have shown that's what they prefer," said Eskimo C.O.O. Rick LeLacheur.
The Green and Gold will get things started with two pre-season tilts versus Winnipeg. The Bombers will visit on Friday, June 10 and Edmonton makes the trek east on Thursday June 16.
