Toronto Argonauts News Release
Toronto â With the announcement of the CFL's 2005 schedule, the Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts are looking forward to their best home schedule in years. Having signed all of its starters from last season, the team is looking forward to another championship year.
The home opener features a Grey Cup rematch as the Boatmen welcome the B.C. Lions on Saturday, June 25. Other highlights in the 2005 schedule include two holiday Monday games on Monday, August 1 vs. Winnipeg and the Thanksgiving Gridiron game on Monday, October 11 vs. Edmonton. Toronto's traditional rivalry with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will heighten this year as the tabbies will come to the Rogers Centre on September 10 as an immediate rematch of the Labour Day Classic. The Ticats will also visit Toronto on Thursday, October 27. The Argos will return to Friday Night Football this season at home when the Double Blue face their East Division rival the Montreal Alouettes on Friday, August 12.
Keith Pelley, President and CEO of the Toronto Argonauts, commented on the 2005 schedule, "This home schedule is a tremendous improvement over last year's. We would like to thank the Blue Jays organization for working with us in securing much stronger home dates at the Rogers Centre. Our longest layoff away from home is three weeks, compared to five weeks last season. I can't wait to see the opening kickoff at our home opener on June 25 when we unveil our championship banner and present our Grey Cup rings to our players, before facing our Grey Cup opponents, the B.C. Lions."
