Edmonton Elks News Release
(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos will be making history on Tuesday, September 21st as they will be the first professional football team to set foot on Prince Edward Island. Football PEI and the Edmonton Eskimos announced today that the Green and Gold will be making a special visit to the Turf Fields at Terry Fox Recreation Complex in Cornwall, P.E.I as part of their community tour during the Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic visit.
While in Cornwall, the Eskimos will be delivering a coaches clinic and an on field clinic for both coaches and players led by Eskimo Manager of Football Administration and Canadian Scouting Dan Mackinnon and Eskimo Head Scout Ed Hervey. The on field clinic will be assisted by Eskimo players. Following the clinics, the entire team and coaching staff will gather at 5:00pm for an autograph session to meet with football and CFL fans of P.E.I.
With one of the main goals of Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic being to make a positive difference in the community while promoting the CFL and the Canadian football game, the entire Eskimo organization is excited and honoured to have the chance to spend a day in P.E.I.
Eskimo President and CEO Rick LeLacheur says, "The Edmonton Eskimos, like all CFL teams, are committed to the development of minor football across Canada and we're very excited to work with coaches and players during our visit to P.E.I as part of Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic. As well, we're pleased to donate two Grey Cup 2010 packages as a fundraiser for minor football in Prince Edward Island."
