Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal, Sept 1, 2010 - Montreal Alouettes' linebacker Chip Cox has been rewarded for his standout performance so far this season, as he was named today the CFL's Defensive Player of the Month for August.
Cox helped the Alouettes win two of their three games in August, making 20 tackles and recording a pair of sacks. He also knocked down two passes, recorded one tackle for a loss, and returned a fumble 14 yards for a touchdown.
He was named the league's top defensive player in both Weeks 6 and 8, and the Alouettes' player of the game in both of Montreal's home games last month. He leads the Als in the tackles column this season with 40, which puts him tied for the fifth spot in the CFL.
He was named both a division and league All-Star in 2009, both career firsts.
The Alouettes host the BC Lions this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Percival Molson Stadium (TSNHD, RDSHD, CJAD, NRJ).
