(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have claimed non-import running back Jarred Winkel from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
non-active roster. In 2006, the former University of Alberta star spent his rookie CFL season with the Esks, appearing in five games.
He was released by Edmonton on June 23/07 and signed a practice roster agreement with Winnipeg on July 1st.

2006: (Edmonton) Appeared in five games for the Eskimos and recorded three carries for 12 yards.
College/Personal: Winkel played 31 regular season games for the Golden Bears, running for 3,311 yards on 506 carries and adding 20 touchdowns. He is number two on the Alberta All-Time rushing list and number six on the CW all-time rushing list. Winkel has had 11 150-yard rushing games in his career, including two for over 200 yards. He was named a CIS Second Team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star in both 2003 and 2004. Jarred attended Salisbury High School in Edmonton and played for the Edmonton Wildcats from 1998-2001.
