WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added some valuable depth to their offensive line today with the signing of non-import offensive lineman Riley Clayton to a practice roster agreement.

As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Clayton (6-5, 305, Manitoba '05, DOB: June 11, 1983 in Winnipeg, MB) was a fourth round pick (27th overall) of the Calgary Stampeders in the 2006 CFL Canadian Draft. He dressed for one game for the Stampeders last season, suiting-up Oct. 21 versus the Blue Bombers.

The former University of Manitoba Bison attended training camp with the Stampeders earlier this season but was released prior to the start of the regular season.

Clayton was part of a U of M offensive line that allowed the fewest quarterback sacks (10) in the Canada West Athletic Conference in 2005. He was a Canada West all-star and team captain that season. He also participated in the 2005 East West Bowl. In 2003 he was the offensive lineman of the year for the Winnipeg Rifles of the Prairie Football Conference.

"Riley Clayton is someone who has been familiar to us for some time now and we are pleased to be able to add him to our football club," said Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman. "His skill and size make him a valuable commodity."
