(Edmonton) Today the Edmonton Eskimos drafted DE Adam Braidwood out of Washington State as their first pick (1st overall) in the 2006 Canadian College Draft. In his 48 games as a Cougar he racked up 90 defensive tackles, 13.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. Adam was All-Pac 10 Freshman, co-winner of the Leon Bender Defensive Lineman-of-the-Year Award in 2004 and won the Tim Petek Strongest Man Award two straight years at WSU. He attended Seaquam High School in Delta, B.C.

Eskimo Defensive Line coach Dennis Winston says, "He was the pick we wanted from the start. We researched him, talked to his coaches and found out he is just what we need."

"This is a great day," says Braidwood. "I am looking forward to going to the Eskimos. They have a great program and a winning tradition. Being the first overall pick in the CFL Draft is an honour and shows a lot of respect. I'm excited to get up there soon and make an impact on the team any way I can."
