
Argos take DT Daniel Federkeil with first pick

Mississauga - With their first round pick, fifth overall, in the 2006 CFL Canadian Draft, the Toronto Argonauts have selected DT Daniel Federkeil from the University of Calgary.
Federkeil is a highly-regarded athlete and player, best known for his size and versatility. He was invited to the 2004 East West Bowl game and was the Canada West nominee for the J.P. Metras Trophy as the CIS Lineman of the Year. As a 17 year old Rookie in 2001, he was one of the youngest players to ever dress for the Dinos and was named a starter mid-way through the season.

College: Despite being just 22, Dan played his fifth and final season with the Dinos in 2005, his fourth year as a starter along the defensive line...Federkeil is an outstanding athlete and can either be used on the edge or inside on defensive line and has also seen offensive line action in short yardage situations...Participated in East West Shrine Game in January...2004: Played in East West Bowl...2003: Team nominee for the J.P. Metras Trophy for Lineman of the Year...Second team CIS All-Canadian...Canada West All-Star...2001: One of the youngest players to ever dress for a Dinos regular season game, Federkeil played his entire rookie season as a 17-year old...He was the team's nominee for the Peter Gorman Trophy as Rookie of the Year, gaining a starting spot mid-way through his first year.
Personal: An Economics major, Dan was a member of the Alberta Provincial team that competed in the Under 19 Championship in 2001 earning all-star honours. He was the Rangeland Football Conference Lineman of the Year and RFC All-Star in 2000.
