Edmonton Selects Braidwood as First Overall Pick in 2006 CFL Canadian Draft

Toronto, ON - (April 20, 2006) - The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today that the first overall selection in the 2006 Canadian Draft by the Edmonton Eskimos was defensive end Adam Braidwood from the University of Washington State.

The native of Delta, British Columbia started 11 games for the Cougars in 2005, registering 27 total tackles and 6.5 sacks. He received the Tim Petek Strongest Man award and shared the Leon Bender Defensive Lineman-of-the-Year award with Steve Cook. He began his career as an All Pac 10 Freshman.

Braidwood attended the 2006 CFL Evaluation Camp and measured in at 6'4 and 270 pounds. Over the course of the two-day camp, Braidwood impressed coaches and player personnel across the League with his strength and speed, lifting the 225lb benchpress 30 times and posting a time of 4.93 seconds in the 40-yard sprint.
