Alouettes acquire Nealon Greene

Montreal, Apr. 20, 2006 - Montreal Alouettes Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp acquired veteran Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Nealon Greene in exchange for defensive back Almondo Curry and the Alouettes' fifth-round draft pick in 2007.

Nealon Greene (5'10'', 205 lbs.) started his career with the Toronto Argonauts in 1998. He established himself as a starter in 1999 when he played for the Edmonton Eskimos. He was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2002. He had his best season in 2003 when he completed 278 of 455 passes for 3398 yards, 20 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. In eight years in the CFL, Greene started 78 games and completed 1,184 of 2,003 passes for gains of 14,437 yards, 78 touchdowns and 51 interceptions. He also rushed 531 times for 3,530 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Among the quarterbacks expected at the Alouettes' training camp are Anthony Calvillo, Quincy Carter, Michael Brady, Ryan Dinwiddie and Scott McBrien.
