(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club hosts its annual Fundraising Dinner on Thursday, October 7th, 2004 at Northlands' Agricom. This year, we pay tribute to Willie Pless and celebrate his induction to the Eskimo Wall of Honour. Eskimo players and alumni will also be in attendance.
Here is a brief look at the career of Willie Pless:
Eight years as an Eskimo (1991-1998)
Five-time winner of the CFL Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year Award, including an unprecedented four straight awards from 1994 to '97
Eight-time CFL West All-Star
1,241 regular season defensive tackles (CFL record)
88 defensive tackles in the playoffs (CFL record)
Twenty-third member of the Eskimo's Wall of Honour
As well, 2004 also marks the 50th anniversary of Edmonton's first Grey Cup win. To mark the event, surviving members of Edmonton's 1954, '55 and '56 teams will be honoured during half-time prior to Pless' Wall of Honour ceremony.
