Salt Lake Bees News Release

Canning allowed just one unearned run in his first start of the season, giving up four hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Matt Custred came on in relief of Canning and gave up a two-run homer after the inning was extended by an error to give the Isotopes the lead. All three runs scored by the Isotopes during the game were unearned as the Bees made a pair of costly errors.

For the third consecutive night the Bees would outhit the Isotopes, highlighted by Wilfredo Tovar collecting his second consecutive multi-hit game. Bo Way brought in both runs with a two-RBI single in the second inning. Way and Luis Rengifo would get into scoring position with one out in the fifth, but Salt Lake could not cash in on the threat. Bees reliever Jeremy Rhoades would pitch a scoreless ninth inning and has now allowed only one earned run in his last 23 outings with Salt Lake, dating back to the 2018 All-Star Break.

The Bees will face the Isotopes in Albuquerque for a pair of day games on Sunday and Monday afternoon before returning to Salt Lake for the home opener at Smith's Ballpark on Tuesday night. Tickets and more information is available at www.slbees.com.
