Errors Open Door for Clinton Win

The River Bandits committed three errors in the first inning which led to two unearned runs against Bandit starter Trevor Rosenthal (3-7). The LumberKings went on to take the series finale 5-1 over the Bandits.

Quad Cities scattered just four hits, all singles, against Clinton starter James Paxton (3-3). Ronny Gil (1-for-4) drove in the River Bandits only run in the top of the third when he singled home Geoff Klein from third.

Rosethal allowed two earned runs, four total, on five hits. He walked just two and fanned seven over six innings while taking the loss. Paxton struck out a season-high 13 batters over 6 1/3 innings in the win. Tyler Burgoon (7) picked up the save by working the final 2 2/3 innings to close out the game. He struck out two and allowed only one hit.

The two teams combined to commit eight errors, the River Bandits accounted for five of those.

The River Bandits return home on Friday to open up a three-game series with the Peoria Chiefs. First pitch is 7:00 on Friday at Modern Woodmen Park.
