FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The TinCaps fell behind the Dayton Dragons early on their way to a 14-4 loss Thursday at Parkview Field. Connor Powers and Emmanuel Quiles each had multi-hit games for Fort Wayne.

Dayton's Theo Bowe led off the game with a triple to right and scored on a groundout to put the Dragons ahead. Later in the inning, David Vidal smacked a two-run homer to cap the rally at 4-0.

The Dragons scored five more runs the next inning, including a three-run shot by Vidal, to make it 9-0. Dayton tacked on an additional run on a Vidal double in the fourth inning to push the deficit to 10-0; Vidal finished with seven RBI.

Trailing 13-1 in the ninth, Fort Wayne brought Cole Tyrell, usually a catcher, to the mound with the bases loaded and nobody out. He induced an RBI fielder's choice, then struck out back-to-back hitters to short-circuit the Dayton rally.

The TinCaps put together a small rally in the bottom of the ninth; Chris Bisson led off with a single and Oscar Garcia walked to start the inning. Two batters later, Luis Domoromo was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Wild pitches brought Bisson and Garcia home, then a dropped fly ball brought Domoromo home to make it a three-run inning and a 14-4 game.

Fort Wayne RHP Adys Portillo (1-7) took the loss as he retired just two of the eight batters he faced and didn't get out of the first inning. Dayton RHP Stalin Gerson (1-0) fired five strong innings to pick up the victory.

The TinCaps dipped to 29-37; Dayton upped its record to 34-33.

The TinCaps open a three-game road trip against the Great Lakes Loons (Class-A Los Angeles Dodgers) beginning Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Fort Wayne LHP Andrew Werner (2-5) gets the start against Loons RHP Garrett Gould (6-2).
