Bandits Break Tie In Ninth

The River Bandits put up three runs in the first inning only to allow two runs in the bottom of the inning to put the game within one. The River Bandits went on to score two more before allowing Clinton to tie the game in the fourth. Both teams were held scoreless until the ninth when Michael Swinson (1-for-2, 2 R) scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-5. Following that play, Cody Stanley (1-for-5, 4 RBI) hit a three-RBI double and the Bandits went on to win 9-5.

Bandit starter Seth Blair went 3.2 innings allowing five runs (four earned) while striking out five. Dean Kiekhefer came into the game in the fourth and went 2.1 innings allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out three. Justin Wright (5-1) came into the game in the seventh and went three scoreless innings striking out four.

Offensively the Bandits collected eight hits. Nick Longmire went 2-for-3 with an RBI to extend his hit streak to three games. Victor Sanchez and Christ Edmondson each went 2-for-4.

Blair was opposed by Clinton starter Edlando Seco. The right-hander went just three innings allowing four runs on two hits while walking four. Jessie Nava came into the game in the eighth and went 1.2 innings allowing three runs on one hit while walking three.

With four games remaining in the first half of the season, the Bandits are 5.5 games back in the division and hold a 1.5 game lead on the third place Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

The Bandits look for the series sweep Thursday when they send Trevor Rosenthal (3-6, 3.71) to oppose LumberKings starter James Paxton (2-3, 2.89). First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Alliant Energy Field.
