ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves look to make it two straight wins as they take the field in the middle game of a three game series against the Connecticut Defenders (San Francisco Giants). The 'Wolves took game one of the series with a thrilling run scoring single by Will Rhymes in the bottom of the ninth inning en route to a 5-4 win. Erie has now won three straight series openers. Since the all-star break, the 'Wolves are 20-10 and the team is in fourth place in the Southern Division, 15 games behind first Bowie. Erie is also 10-3 in the month of August. Erie is in a stretch of 12 straight games against Northern Division opponents. The SeaWolves and Defenders meet six times in a span of 10 days...1B Ryan Roberson is out of Erie's lineup again tonight with back spasms. He is listed as day-to-day. Tonight is the fourth straight game missed by Roberson...Last night's win was the 10th win for the 'Wolves in their last at-bat of a game. The 'Wolves are 8-2 in their last 10 games and they continue to be the hottest team in the EL...The Defenders come into tonight's game in fourth place in the North, 11.5 games behind first place Trenton and four games behind wild card leading Portland...Lefty Luke French takes the mound for Erie making his 25th appearance and 24th start. French has an ERA of 2.93 in his last eight starts and the 'Wolves have won four of the last five games started by French. In his most recent outing against Reading on August 10, French went 4.1 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Coming into that start he had a string of three straight starts going seven innings. French has tossed six or more innings in six of his last seven starts.
